Ronnie Screwvala, who is currently the managing director of Disney-UTV, is said to be leaving the company soon. Strong buzz within the industry suggests that the Walt Disney International chairman, Andy Bird, is in the country and meetings will be taking place over the next few days behind closed doors. An official announcement is expected soon, so we’ll wait to hear from them – however, there is already a lot of industry talk about his departure, so we’re expecting that the news is true.
According to certain reports, Screwvala had a five-year lock-in period, so it comes as a surprise that he’s leaving so soon. A few UTV executives have already left the company, though, after the Disney take over, so there is perhaps something brewing there. In fact, we are even told by a film industry member that UTV Motion Pictures CEO, Siddharth Roy Kapur, may also be leaving to form another company with Ronnie. No idea whether this is true or not, since we’re also hearing conflicting reports that Siddharth may take over Ronnie’s post. In any case, we’ll keep you updated as we know more!
