Now here’s a film I’m looking forward to! We just heard that Shoojit Sircar began shooting for his next productional venture, Running Shaadi.com, in Amritsar over the weekend. The film stars Amit Sadh (of Kai Po Che fame) and Taapsee Pannu (Chashme Baddoor), and is being directed by debutante director Amit Roy. The makers are pegging the film as a “youth romantic comedy,” and the concept is actually pretty interesting!
Running Shaadi.com is a romcom centred around a website that helps people run away and get married. The film claims to delve deep into the minds of India’s young, especially in the smaller towns, and is supposed to be “intelligently entertaining with an array of endearing characters.” It’s co-produced by Crouching Tiger Motion Pictures.
Shoojit Sircar says:
“Amit Roy is a friend for many years so when he came to me with this script, I thought it was very interesting and a sweet love story which we decided to produce under our banner, Rising Sun Films. We are committed to making entertaining cinema and this film fits the bill perfectly.”
The film is expected to be out mid-2014, and based on the concept alone, I think it could be a fairly entertaining one. I’ll be keeping my eye out for Running Shaadi.com and all the promos we should be seeing in a few months. Will you?
