We’ve been hearing for a while now that Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone have been roped in for Imtiaz Ali‘s next film, which came as no surprise, especially considering what a successful pair they are. Rumours were circulating around about a month ago that the title of the film is Window Seat, however, no confirmation was forthcoming from Imtiaz. Now, though, the director stated in a recent interview that Window Seat is indeed the working title, and also revealed that AR Rahman would be composing the music.
Rahman composed the music for Imtiaz’s last film, Rockstar, and his upcoming one, Highway, so it’s not surprising that he’s been brought on board for Window Seat as well. Rockstar still remains one of my favourite film soundtracks ever, so I’m expecting big things from Highway and Window Seat – we know already that the Rahman/Imtiaz combination works.
As for why the title Window Seat, it seems that it’s become an obsession of sorts for Imtiaz. He told Bollywood Hungama in an interview that:
“There’s this phase that I’m thinking of this term window seat a lot. Everything I’m doing or naming, I’m calling it window seat. My production house is called Window Seat Films, as you said an article I wrote earlier this year in The Times of India, was called Window Seat in Kashmir, With Ranbir Kapoor.”
Obviously, I’m really looking forward to it already, even though it’s definitely a long way off. I just feel better about existing in a world where I know there’s an Imtiaz Ali film in the works.
