AK: When I turned eighteen, my dad asked me to distribute Diwali gifts to their friends. That made me drive around with friends in and around Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali. Since then, it was one thing I looked forward to.

Team MM: What are your Diwali plans this year?

Vaani Kapoor: I will be in Mumbai, and celebrate it here with friends. We will probably have a house party!

Team MM: Tell us about one childhood memory that makes Diwali so special?

VK: My childhood Diwali celebrations were the best. As terrible as I feel now for the environment, I used to love bursting crackers with all my cousins. We would play cards with my dad and his friends as a kid. But now, I have really sobered down when it comes to celebrating Diwali. No more crackers and all.

Team MM: What are your favourite foods that you would like to indulge in during the festivities?

VK: Definitely sweets… lots of sweets! I love Indian sweets, especially gujiya, kulfi, ras malai... the list goes on.

SS: One memory that’s still fresh in my mind is that I would wait for my dad to come back from work and then we would light diyas around our house.

Team MM: What are your favourite foods that you would like to indulge in during the festivities?

SS: I’m a hardcore foodie. But Diwali is the time to go crazy on the sweets.
