For those of us who missed watching Sholay on the big screen all those years ago, the film is returning – and this time, in a different format! Come January 3rd, Sholay will be rereleased in 3D (and also 2D), making it the first film to hit theatres in 2014. The makers have created a special trailer for the film, incorporating quotes from various publications and film industry professionals about this blockbuster. Check out the promo and let us know whether you’re excited for it!
There’s also good news for fans of this movie and others like Trishul, Deewar and Yaadon Ki Baarat: Salim-Javed, the Sholay scriptwriters, have put all their differences behind them and may collaborate for a project soon. Although the two were responsible for several huge hits back in the days, things went sour between them and they stopped working together post the release of Mr India in 1987. However, when the Zanjeer remake was being made, the duo came together again to fight for compensation, since they wrote the original script. It seems like that was when they decided to put an end to all their issues, especially since they were around each other for several hours in a day. Now, Salim Khan himself has said that they have a few “half-baked ideas” – and believes there will be no shortage of takers if they do decide to turn one of those into a script.
It’ll be interesting to see how they work together after all these years, and whether they can still produce scripts that go on to become as massive as hits as their previous films did. What do you think – will it happen?
