Designer Maheka Mirpuri lost two family members to cancer in a short span of time – her father and her brother-in-law. This immeasurable loss spurred her on to set up a charitable foundation for providing financial assistance to the underprivileged who are fighting the disease at Mumbai’s Tata Memorial Hospital.
Called the MCan Foundation, Maheka held a fashion show and an auction of art works to raise much needed funds to treat the ailing and also spread awareness of the dreaded disease.
Adding a dollop of glamour to the event was the beautiful actress, Manisha Koirala, who walked the ramp in a saree designed by Maheka.
Manisha was diagnosed with cancer last year and went off to the States for treatment. She has now fully recovered and looks as glamorous as always.
We hear that Maheka was able to generate a total of thirty lakh rupees for the MCan foundation. Clearly Mumbai city has a big heart!
