Ahem, quite the makeover, don’t you think? This is one of Vidya Balan‘s looks for the upcoming Bobby Jasoos, the film she’s doing with Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha‘s Born Free Entertainment. She plays India’s first female detective in this one, except in the still we just received, it’s clear that she’s dressed as a man – a homeless man, to be precise. But don’t worry, we also have a picture of what her regular, female version looks like in the movie. Check it out!
They’re currently shooting for Bobby Jasoos in Hyderabad, and they’re doing this in one shot – it will be a one-schedule film, shot over a span of 55 days. And no, if you think they’re just using Ramoji Film City, you’re wrong: turns out they’ll be shooting across real locations to capture the “vibrant and royal cultural history” of Hyderabad. Dia herself is from Hyderabad, so we bet she’s pleased!
Dia Mirza says:
“The idea of Bobby Jasoos was born over a year and a half ago! Today, blessed with an ideal cast and fantastic crew we are ready to roll and nothing gives me more pleasure! The actors have been busy in workshops, readings, look tests and their enthusiasm and excitement is palpable. Vidya has ably led from the front and her dedication to preparing for this part is evidence to the fact that she is an actor who continues to respects the craft and is hungry for more despite achieving so much already. I can’t wait for Bobby to be unleashed!!!”
We’re looking forward to this movie as well, not just for Vidya, but also some of the supporting cast – Ali Fazal, Arjan Bajwa, Supriya Pathak and Tanvi Azmi are just a few of the other names in Bobby Jasoos. And according to Sahil Sangha, they’ve all approached the film with “a sense of ownership and selflessness” which he believes leads to “an enviable energy being born.”
The team is looking forward to a summer 2014 release, so we don’t have too long to wait. Are you excited?
