5 Things We Liked at Neeta Lulla’s India Bridal Week Show

Neeta Lulla is one of the few costume and fashion designers in Bollywood who enjoys a huge amount of goodwill from the industry and that was easily perceived by the packed house, full of glamorous fashionistas who had come to watch her show on the closing day of India Bridal Week.

As people jostled for space to find the perfect seat, her amiable children – Nishka and Siddharth Lulla – were seen ushering in the VIP guests (like Sameera Reddy, Evelyn Sharma and Sonal Chauhan) and escorting them to prime seats in the front row.

Team MissMalini lists five things we loved at Neeta’s show and hope some of them trickle into fashion trends in the coming year:

NEETA’S LITTLE ANGEL:

The little angel

The show kicked off with models walking on to the ramp from the audience as a young boy in white, with angel wings on his back, played the violin at the head of the ramp. The little “angel” received a rousing applause as he then walked off into the wings and the models stole the spotlight. Very cute!

GOSSAMER GOWNS:

The first sequence saw models wearing pastel hued gossamer creations that were evocative of A Mid Summer Night’s Dream. The fairy-like glitter, 3D flowers and pale pastel hues brought to life the romance of a by-gone era. Divine!

SAREES WITH JACKETS:

We love the trend of a jacket worn over a saree – a silhouette that gives an utterly modern twist to the traditional. Neeta chose to pair her sarees with sharply-cut jackets and waistcoats that could well become a red-carpet fashion statement in colder climes. Chic!

BELTED SAREES:

Though the trend is not entirely new, Neeta embellished her lace and even Kajeevaram sarees with slim belts. A super way to show off your tiny waist!

BOLLYWOOD SHOW-STOPPERS:

And finally, no fashion show is complete without a Bollywood show-stopper. Neeta Lulla scored a coup by having two cuties on the ramp – Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh.

While Riteish made a solo entry in a velvet sherwani with gold trimmings, Genelia entered the ramp from the audience, wearing a luxurious brown silk lehenga and a peplum blouse.
