Surily Goel has been designing since 2003, launching her eponymous label Surily. Apart from that, she is known for styling films such as Salaam Namaste, Ishkq in Paris, Chance Pe Dance, Blue to name a few. This time she’s showcasing her collection at India Resortwear Fashion Week titled Getaway Glam. Inspired by the party destination island of Ibiza, she’s designed a breezy line of shift dresses, kaftans and jumpsuits. The fabrics chosen are floaty georgettes, figure-hugging jerseys, and romantic lace. The colour palette ranges from blacks, creams to subtle beiges and cream with touches of marmalade.
We scored a quick chat with her about her line.
TeamMissMalini: Tell us about your resort collection Getaway Glam.
Surily Goel (SG): My resort collection is very fun, casual, relaxed and glam… kaftans, tunics, jump suits and you are set for the beach!
TeamMM: What was your inspiration behind it?
SG: My various travels and beach holidays like Bali, Ibiza, Marbella have been my inspiration… I will always be boho at heart but this time, it [the collection] is also chic and sophisticated.
TeamMM: What’s your favourite piece from this collection.
SG: It would have to be the ivory lace tunic with gold foil.
TeamMM: What can we expect from your runway show? Will you be having any showstopper?
SG: Resort week doesn’t allow show stoppers which is a great idea, ’cause for once the clothes will be the focus!
TeamMM: What are the 5 must haves a woman should pack for her holiday?
SG: The 5 holiday must-haves every woman should own are:
1) A good mosituriser
2) Heavy-duty sunscreen
3) Sexy sunglasses
4) Denim shorts and a white tee
5) A multi-purpose sarong that can double as a scarf or cover-up.
