It’s been thirteen years since Nandita Mahtani first made a splash on the desi fashion scene with the launch of her label, Ananya. However, more often than not, she’s been known for her on-off relationship with Dino Morea and also for being the ex-wife of actress Karisma Kapoor‘s estranged husband.
But if you put her personal life aside and take a look at her body of work, you’ll see that Nandita is one of the few designers who has consistently designed cutting-edge resortwear, much before the term became fashionable.
Nandita was always known for her kaftan dresses and vibrant colours that wouldn’t be out of place at a party in St. Tropez or even a destination wedding in Goa.
In fact, she counts among her loyal clientele, a number of Bollywood biggies like Shilpa Shetty, Deepika Padukone, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and even Tabu.

For the upcoming India Resortwear Fashion Week, Nandita Mahtani will showcase her new cocktail and resort collection on the of 13th December at the J W Marriott hotel in Mumbai.
Playing with a romantic palette of pastel hues like coral, green, yellow, pink and different shades of white, Nandita will debut a startling line of structured kaftans, kimono-style dresses, classic cut one-shoulder dresses, tube dresses and some fun colour block dresses as well.
In her signature style, Nandita’s designs will be defined by uber glamour and sophistication. Look out for detailing in the form of mesh, bead work, shibori work and sequin embroidery to add that dollop of drama.
Talking about her collection, Nandita tells us, “My idea is to merge exquisite Indian embroideries with modern and contemporary cuts to create a look that is timeless, feminine and most of all, wearable!”
