This is going to be something worth seeing! Shah Rukh Khan announced on Twitter earlier today that he will be a part of the upcoming film Fan, but of course it’s not simply enough for Shah Rukh to just “say” it – he has to be poetic about it. 🙂 The actor tweeted saying, “Most of the characters I do are the ones I create… for the first time I am going to play what has created me… I will be, in my next, a FAN.” This film is to be directed by Maneesh Sharma, and it’s quite fitting that he has SRK as his lead, since he’s been a fan of the actor himself!
I’m excited about seeing Shah Rukh in Maneesh Sharma’s hands, actually. It’s great that he’s working with newer directors; in fact, he also has Raees with Rahul Dholakia coming up next year as well. Fan is written by Habib Faisal, and we know the Manish-Habib combination has worked well before – they gave us the fantastic Band Baaja Baraat (which was actually Maneesh’s film) back in 2010. Post that, Habib wrote the dialogue for Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl, which Maneesh directed as well.
The press note tells us that in this film, Shah Rukh will be playing the role of the “biggest fan” himself, despite the fact that he’s a person who has one of the hugest fan followings we’ve ever seen. The movie is, of course, a Yash Raj Films one, to be produced by Aditya Chopra. It will go on floors in May 2014, after SRK wraps up Happy New Year.
