Unfortunately, the year has not gotten off to such a great start for actress Pooja Chopra – the Commando star brought in the New Year recovering at the hospital. According to a recent report, Pooja was sitting by the window in her home on Monday – the 30th – sipping tea, when the glass from her window fell and crashed on her floor. One of the pieces cut her left leg, injuring her badly. The actress faced severe bleeding, and it was only because of her domestic help that she was able to be rushed to the hospital to receive the attention she needed.
Once at the hospital, she was taken in for surgery immediately, which lasted for over three hours. The doctors claim that she lost quite a bit blood, and sustained severe damage to her arteries, nerves and tendon, which she needed to get stitches for (around 50, according to the TOI report). Now, Pooja is recovering at the hospital, but she is unable to walk just yet. In order to resume walking properly – and return to shooting the kinds of films she does – Pooja will need to rest for at least four months.
We can only imagine how terrible it must be to face such an accident, and hope that the actress gets all the rest that she needs so that she recovers as soon as possible. Take care, Pooja!

She was also crowned the Pantaloons Femina Miss India World in 2009. While she didn’t win the Miss World 2009 title, she won the “Beauty With a Purpose” title for her charitable work in the “Nanhi Kali” project which helps young girls fight poverty. The prize was $10,000 US for her project.
