You might have read my post on lingerie mistakes and how to combat them. Now I’m rounding up some of the biggest fashion crimes you could commit.
Alas, we have Jennifer Lopez to thank for this trend. Circa early ‘00s J.Lo launched her fashion empire wearing velour sweat pants in public – and the trend caught on. Juicy Couture became a legitimate fashion brand owing to their rhinestone encrusted ones. While the trend has now got a bad rep abroad, it still seems to be going strong here with the likes of Katrina Kaif and Shilpa Shetty wearing them in public. (Thankfully Katrina has learnt from her mistake and has upped the ante.)
Flip flops are meant for the beach and should remain there. They might be easy and comfy to wear and but wearing them almost everywhere is a strict no-no. An annoying addition to this trend is fit flops that women seem to be spotted wearing with almost everything from dresses to trousers.
There’s a certain art to wearing inner wear as outerwear but for most part, exposing your bra straps is not cool (ugh, especially the transparent ones, what’s the point of wearing them then?) or even much worse garters. *shudder* You don’t want to be labelled a street-walker, do you?
I detest any ostentatious display of fashion logos. I can understand if you’re carrying just a monogrammed bag but adding a scarf or shoes is just a bit much.
Jeez, Ameesha Patel you’ve been found an offender twice!
Ok ladies, listen to me to me closely. Leggings don’t double up as pants. If you’re wearing leggings, ensure that your top is long enough to cover your bottom and crotch.
Sunglasses have the word “sun” in them, hence they’re meant to be worn outdoors and when the sun it out. Wearing them indoors makes you look like a fool, quite honestly.
As much as it appears on the runways, wearing socks with sandals or floaters is just one major faux pas. Skip the socks and bare your toes. If that doesn’t fly, just pick lightweight shoes.
We have all jumped on the low waist jean bandwagon but some of us still prefer to wear baggy or boxy high waisted “mom jeans”. While Kajol’s denims are low-waisted, you get the idea of them being unflattering.
I’m sorry for assaulting your vision with the image above but it is to prove my point that wearing clothing that’s too tight could lead to unsightly bulges.
Uff! My eyes! I understand wearing one colour from head to toe but to match your accessories and jewellery too, is a bit much. Ensure that you have some sort of contrast in your outfit.
