The Bollywood fraternity turned up in full force for the Umang 2014 show which was held in Mumbai over the weekend. This dazzling event is held for the Mumbai police force and is considered a generous “Thank you” by the stars to the police personnel who give them protection throughout the year.
Stars like Hrithik Roshan, Jacqueline Fernandez and Shah Rukh Khan danced on stage along with members of the police force.
Here’s a round-up of what they wore on the red-carpet:
KAREENA KAPOOR KHAN
Kareena Kapoor Khan chose a colour block linen saree by designer duo Shivan & Narresh. The black, white and pink combination worked well in her favour and made her look statuesque.
You can’t go wrong with blue-and-gold and Madhuri Dixit sure looked stately and elegant in this saree by Arpita Mehta. A hint of purple around the borders added a dash of flash to the saree.
Mandira Bedi is undoubtedly one of the (very) few women who can carry off a saree with grace and panache. Here, she wears one from her own design label. We particularly love the copper and jade combination.
Keeping it simple yet glamorous was Tabu in a black saree with gold borders and motifs by Raw Mango.
Richa Chadda opted for a yellow and white saree with silver borders, by Pankaj & Nidhi. We particularly love the contrasting floral printed blouse.
No public function is complete without a Bollywood actress wearing an anarkali by Manish Malhotra. Shilpa Shetty aced this pink number with gold sequin borders.
Rani Mukerji made an eclectic appearance in an electric blue kurta and cropped pants. A multi-strand silver necklace added more dazzle to her get-up.
We’re on the fence about this Roberto Cavalli outfit sported by Katrina Kaif. While we like the sleek silhouette and the embroidered collar, we’re not so sure if the bottle green colour suits her. Maybe if the gown was strapless or had a halter neckline, it might have suited her better. The long sleeves are a bit distracting.
