Actress Sara Loren made her mark in Bollywood with Murder 3, last year. But her actual debut was in Kajra Re, opposite Himesh Reshamiya in 2010. Back then, she was known as Mona Lizza.
According to news reports at the time, the film tanked (although Mona Lizza’s acting was critically acclaimed). So, to make a fresh start in Bollywood three years later, she changed her name to Sara Loren.
Now, she has signed up for a new film called Barkhaa in which she plays the lead role opposite Taaha Shah. The film was officially launched in Mumbai last evening and Sara cut a lovely figure in an ornate maxi by designer Shruti Sancheti.
Says Shruti, “When stylist Josie Paris called me to source an ethnic outfit for Sara for the launch, I could only think of this pretty fuchsia maxi from my Saaj collection.”
The maxi is fashioned from Maharashtrian woven fabrics which have been revived by Sancheti. “It is detailed with embroidered peacocks along the border and worn with a woven vest, fastened by a silk cord with embroidered nath (nose-ring) motifs dangling from the ends,” adds Shruti.
Adds stylist Josie Paris, “I chose this look for Sara because the colour complements her fair skin tone and the silhouette makes her look like a princess. I wanted her to sport an Indian look with a twist and this maxi (with a vest) made it look like she was wearing an anarkali.”
If you must know, the gossips have it that it took Mukesh Bhatt just fifteen minutes to confirm her for the role in Murder 3 because of her sensuality and confidence.
