Most of us remember him as Ross Geller from the legendary decade-long TV series ‘Friends’. And David Schwimmer is all set to make a comeback as a lead actor on the small screen. After Friends, The 47 year old actor stuck to doing films, like his ex co-star, Jennifer Aniston. He did venture into direction with films like “Run Fatboy Run” and “Trust”. And directed a few TV episodes for shows like “Joey”, “Little Britain USA” and “Growing Up Fisher”. He appeared in some cameo roles as well, in “Band of Brothers”, “Entourage”, “Web Therapy” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm”.
Schwimmer’s new show is based on an Israeli hit TV series called “Bilti Hafich”. The English show is named “Irreversible” and is about a couple, Andy and Sarah, who are somewhat eccentric and self-absorbed. The story revolves around their life trials and tribulations, that are brought upon them by none other than themselves. The series was an instant hit amongst the masses on Israeli broadcast TV and thus, came the idea of its adaptation.
This adaptation of the Israeli TV show is co-written by its original co-creator, Seagahl Avin and the filming will take place in New York. The show is being produced by Schwimmer under Sony TV. Avin is also the executive producer, along with Fedora’s Tolan and Michael Wimer and Reshet TV. The show is predicted to be very promising as it is already loved by many. Hopefully, the English language adaptation will give it a larger audience and hopefully, higher ratings.
All the alumni of ‘Friends’ continued their run on TV except Jennifer Aniston. Courtney Cox starred in the hit TV show “Cougar Town”, Lisa Kudrow had “The Comeback” and “Web Therapy”, Matt LeBlanc continued with “Joey” and “Episodes” and Mathew Perry with “Go On” and “Mr. Sunshine”.
We wish Schwimmer all the success for his new venture on TV.
