Spoiler alert:
So, after a break of nearly 20 days, Supernatural is going to return with Season 9, Episode 14 “The Captives” on February 25th. It was a long enough wait for fans as is. What made it even more agonizing was the synopsis of Episode 15 titled “Thinman” revealed online which marks the return of the Ghostfacers. Yay!
Now, here is a little bit of a spoiler for you. I’m sorry this information of the ‘fun and pretty emotional’ episode was too exciting to be held in. It had to be blurted out! The story is of a ghost spotted in the background of a selfie taken by a teenage girl, who dies in unknown circumstances. (Hmm, selfies are so popular that we now create entire stories around them. Just a thought!)
The writer of Episode 15 spoke to Examiner said, “A teenage girl (guest star Ali Webb) is killed and the final selfie she took before the attack shows a ghostly figure in the background. Looking for something to keep them busy, Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) head to Washington to find the ghost. While the two interview the girl’s mother, Betty (guest star Maria Marlow), they are surprised when she starts talking about cold spots and fritzing. When they ask her about bringing up paranormal signs, Betty replies that the “supernaturalists” who called earlier brought it up. Enter Harry (guest star Travis Wester) and Ed (guest star A.J. Buckley), the famous supernaturalists.”
The Ghostfacers were introduced through web series as a spin-off to the show. They have been a part of four episodes before this – “Hell House,” “Ghostfacers,” “It’s a Terrible Life” and “Hammer of the Gods.” The Executive Producer of the show, Jeremy Carver had revealed to Entertainment Weekly in December, 2013 about their return. He said, “I think we can rest assured we’ll be seeing the return of The Ghostfacers. They will be making a return in what actually is a really fun and pretty emotional episode.”
Also, in other recent great news, the CW has decided to renew Supernatural for another season. Padalecki shared his joy on Twitter saying, “It’s official! Supernatural will be back for Season 10! Y’all did it! WOOHOO!!! #Supernatural #CWpickups,” he added, “And, theres already a season 10 storyline: Sam and Dean check into a retirement home, and NOT because it’s haunted! #toooldforthis!”
