On March 26th, 2014, a fresh trial will begin for the 2002 Salman Khan hit and run case. The date for was fixed today (Tuesday), after a Mumbai court ordered a fresh trial in December. In July 2013, the charges frame against him were for the more serious “culpable homicide not amounting to murder,” which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in jail. Salman was previously charged for the less serious “rash and negligent driving.” A list of 17 witnesses has been submitted, and all evidence/witnesses will be re-examined in the court.
On September 28, 2002, a Toyota SUV (which Salman was allegedly driving) ran over a group of people sleeping on the pavement outside a Bandra bakery, injuring four and killing one.
