Its splitsville for Robin Thicke and Paula Patton! The couple had been married for over 9 years. But since Thicke’s major success on the professional front, things started to fall apart on his personal one.
TMZ reported that Paula called Thicke last Friday and told him that she wanted a divorce. The 36-year-old singer instantly jumped on a flight to Canada to win the 38-year-old actress back. Sources have said that he is desperate to save his marriage. Thicke has his Blurred Lines Tour coming up in Washington D.C. and has decided to go for it. However, he has also decided he will not go out and party like he earlier used to. The singer wants to convince Paula that he can change and be a good husband all over again.
The two met when Thicke was 14 and she was 16 at an under-18 hip hop club. They started dating two years later and got married in 2005. While many reasons have been cited for the separation, nothing can be confirmed as of now.
A source told Perez Hilton, “They’re both at the top of their careers right now and they’re never together. She’s filming in Canada and he’s on tour.”
The most probable reason is the instant success that Thicke got after the release of the video of Blurred Lines. Patton had practically been more successful than him with movies like Hitch and Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol. However, the success got to his head and rumors of him cheating on the actress flew around perpetually.
In his NSFW accompanying video to Blurred Lines, there were models bouncing about in front of balloons that spelled out ‘Robin Thicke has a big d**k’. Even at the MTV VMA awards, his performance with Miley Cyrus along with the twerking generated lots of controversies.
Another actress accused him of groping her while clicking a picture. The singer escaped all of these allegations by claiming to Prestige Magazine, “I don’t know if I would still be alive in some ways if it wasn’t for Paula. She’s been my rock, my muse, my inspiration and I love her. The whole way.” (really?!)
“We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time,” they said in a joint statement to People magazine.
Despite all this, Thicke loves Patton a lot and does not want his 3-year-old son, Julian to get affected by such things. He does not want his son to grow up in two different households.
