The hunt for the right dress, the fittings, the appointments with their dietitians and the endless sittings with the beauty teams to perfect a look and the secrecy, has all come to one glorious finish. Here our some of our favourites at the 86th Annul Academy Awards, in no particular order.

Lupita Nyong’o in custom Prada and Fred Leighton Jewels

It’s perfectly safe to say that Lupita Nyong’o was the star at this year’s Academy Awards! Her choice of the “Nairobi” blue was perfect for her and complimented her Oscar statue in her hand! The deep V-neck custom-made Prada pleated gown with low-cut sides was accessorized with a dazzling hair band, a ear-cuff and stacks of rings, all by Fred Leighton Jewels. With a matching gold outlined Prada clutch, this look can easily be branded as one of the most memorable looks in Oscar history.

Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab

She stood tall and shimmered in the glares of the flash bulbs. Angelina Jolie, in an Ellie Saab dress with intricate bead embellishments, was a vision on the red carpet. The best part of her look? It was a complete shift in direction from her infamous look at Oscars in 2012. The dress had a sheer bodice with full sleeves and a slim belt cinching her waist. Do not miss her Robert Procop 42+ carat diamonds in gold! Don’t you just #LoveGold?

Sandra Bullock in Alexander McQueen

Sandra Bullock is Hollywood’s sweetheart and that’s that! The star, nominated for her role in Gravity, dressed in an extremely flattering Alexander McQueen dress. A sweetheart neckline, beautifully executed drape, hair cascading over one shoulder and minimal jewelry, what more do style watchers want?

Naomi Watts in Calvin Klein Collection and BVLGARI

Dressed in a white gown from the Calvin Klein Collection, Naomi Watts nailed the look with her accessories. A statement choker neck-piece, tiny studs, bracelet and a clutch, all by Bulgari (BVLGARI) gave the look the shine it deserved!

Kelly Osbourne in Badgley Mischka and Solange for #LoveGold

She grew out of her punk rock brat girl image  But the fact that Kelly Osbourne still rocked the lilac and grey tint in hair with a Badgley Mischka dress, Judith Leiber bag in, Solange from #LoveGold jewelry, in a pair of Aldo shoes, earned her an applaud. T about high-street, luxury and punk working in harmony!

Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive

Cate Blanchett took an Oscar home and gave us a vision in this Armani Prive gown. To some, her choice made her look washed out but that’s one way of seeing life! The other way would be that Blanchett owned the look like she impeccably does with every other look she walks into. Sometimes, it is the star that makes a look work and not the other way around!

Kate Hudson in Atelier Versace and Dior jewelry

Nude seemed to the tone of the evening and Kate Hudson took it a notch higher. On paper, the Atelier Versace dress had quite a bit going on. But on Hudson, the plunging neckline, the cowled cape that exposed the low cut back, and the knotted waist on the beaded dress was old Hollywood elegance at its finest.

Portia De Rossi in Naeem Khan

Seems like Portia De Rossi pulled a holy trinity of labels to cheer on her wifey, Ellen DeGeneres. She was probably one of a few who gave us something close to an illusion of a print. In a Naeem Khan ivory honeycomb-beaded halter gown, De Rossi played her usual glam-self with gold Dior jewelry and a Fendi clutch.

Lady Gaga in Atelier Versace

And she did it!, Lady Gaga played an calm chic side on the red carpet in her favourite, Atelier Versace. Not that she can’t, but it’s absolutely amazing when she switches her glam on, away from the normal (for her), in-your-face avant garde choices. P.s. She arrived late and kept posing for the paps for quiet a while. Oh Gaga!

Anne Hathaway in Gucci

And there is good in the world, because Anne Hathaway‘s hair is still short! In her disco Gucci halter dress, the Rachel Getting Married star matched her look with a patent leather clutch and dangerously high heeled shoes. After dumping her stylist Rachel Zoe, Hathaway in this glam-meets-goth version for the Oscars is a statement in itself!

So there you go! Our favourite looks at the 86th Annual Academy Awards. Seems like almost everyone ODed on nude tones and chose to flaunt a wavy old Hollywood sense in their hairstyles. Anyway, is there a look in particular that stood out for you? We’d love to know, so tell us in the comments below!
