Jaggy Singh wins Max Fashion Icon 2014 sub-contest in Mumbai

The excitement in the air was palpable at the Mumbai leg of the Max Fashion Icon 2014 contest, in association with Cosmopolitan magazine. The high street fashion brand chose Mumbai as the final stop on a three-city hunt for the hottest new models in India. The first two stops were in Bangalore and Delhi, and now with Mumbai complete, MissMalini is headed back to Delhi for the finale on March 6th.

As for the grand prize, well, the winners (one guy and one girl) will get a professional photo shoot by famed photographer Jatin Kampani for the Max Fashion Calendar, and they will be featured in Cosmopolitan, Women’s Health and Harper’s Bazaar magazines. To cap it off they will receive gift hampers worth ₹1.25 lakhs, a super-chic Max Fashion wardrobe, and will star in the brand’s next ad campaign!

Take a look at all those lovely ladies and hunky boys who battled it out on the ramp for top Mumbai honours:

Here’s what judges Nishka Lulla and Nachiket Barve had to tell us about the contestants:

Team MissMalini: What were you looking for in the contestants?

Nishka Lulla: I was looking for confidence and contestants who could carry off their clothes well and confidently. I was also looking for those who had a good personality to carry off any kind of look.

Nachiket Barve: I was looking for a combination of good looks, good physique and more than that, a good sense of presence. They need to have a certain charisma which can be communicated not only to a viewer but also to readers of a fashion magazine and editorials. I was judging them on a mixture of all of these things.

Team MM: Do you think the winners have the potential to make it big in Bollywood?

Nishka Lulla: I’m sure the winners have Bollywood potential.

Nachiket Barve: The good thing is that Bollywood is becoming more and more diverse these days. I think there is enough space for everybody. But obviously, being a good model and a good actor are two different things. If any of these contestants so desire, I think they can surely make the transition.

Jaggy Singh: It was fun. The clothese were good. I liked the experience. I’m glad I won.

Team MM: How did you prepare for the contest?

JS: Not a thing! Im a professional model so I didn’t need to prepare.

Team MM: Do you have any Bollywood ambitions?

JS: Yes, I want to become an actor. I’m learning acting now. I would love to play negative roles, like a villain.
