Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone have, in the past, delivered two very big hits together – Om Shanti Om, which was Deepika’s debut, and then Chennai Express several years later. They have, in general, been a very well-received pair too, and from the looks of it, SRK is convinced that the two can work really well together – especially perhaps since they are such good friends themselves. The two will now be seen in Farah Khan‘s next, Happy New Year, and from what I hear, Shah Rukh was the one to convince Farah to pick Deepika as the female lead.
Initially, Farah was hesitant about signing Dippy on – if you remember, they were considering a fresh face at first – but SRK was the one who told her that he wanted to work with Deepika in this film. That’s when Farah decided to give in and offer Deepika the role. That’s not all, though. As per industry buzz, SRK is also recommending Deepika’s name as the female lead for any script that he likes and is considering doing.
