From the looks of it, Nargis Fakhri doesn’t believe that a bird in hand is worth more than two in a bush. The actress, who had a lead role in Shaukeen opposite Akshay Kumar, has lost the role because she was determined to be a part of a Hollywood project – even though I hear that, in that film, she has a very minor role. The actress was to start shooting for Shaukeen in April, but a few days ago, she got the opportunity to work in Paul Feig‘s next film. For that, she requested the Shaukeen producers to accommodate five days of her shoot as she needed time off the international film. The producers, I hear, obliged, even though it required some juggling on their part.
However, a week later, Nargis asked for a couple of more days off. This time the producers put their foot down, saying that they had combination dates of the other stars of the film and would therefore not be able to make any changes. They asked Nargis to choose between the projects, but from what I hear, the actress insisted, saying that she was keen on doing the Hollywood film. It seems like that irritated the producers, who then told her she could give away all her dates to the Hollywood film. Apparently, they even commented that they could see her priorities lay elsewhere. As a result, she was dropped from Shaukeen, and lost out as the lead actress.
It’s a surprising move, as Nargis isn’t the leading lady of the Hollywood film – and, if what I hear is true, she hasn’t even signed on the dotted line as of yet. You may remember that Deepika Padukone walked out of the hit franchise Fast and Furious because it was a bit role, and she had already committed to doing Ram-Leela. DPad was clear that she wanted to do the bigger Bollywood film, but interestingly, Nargis decided to pick the Hollywood project – even though it’s a much smaller role; perhaps even a blink-and-miss one. Curious choice, but here’s wishing her all the best for that project regardless – we’re interested in seeing how her Hollywood debut shapes up!
