Did you know that the secret to Jacqueline Fernandez‘s perfect figure, flawless skin and great health is the fact that she’s been consciously and actively consuming a macro-biotic diet for close to four years?
And if you don’t know what that is, Jacqueline explains in beautifully to Team MissMalini at the launch of The Love Diet book by Shonali Sabherwal, India’s best known Macrobiotic Nutritionist.
Here’s what she tells us:
Team MissMalini: Please explain to us, what exactly a macro-biotic diet consists of.
Jacqueline Fernandez: A macro-biotic diet, which I have been following for four years, is basically a balance of carbs, proteins and vegetables. It’s easy to follow and you cant falter much with it because you can apply it to any meal at any given time, with any kind of food as well. For example, a typical lunch would consist of red rice and mince, some kind of beans (like dal) or maybe a soya bean patty. And of course, some vegetables which can be either stir-fried or grilled.
There are many ways to play around with it. You can make it a spaghetti. You can make it a pizza. But you need to have those three main components. It’s basically solved all my diet woes. It’s not bland. It’s not NOT yummy! it’s very very delicious.
Team MissMalini: What made you switch a regular macro-biotic diet?
JF: My film Aladdin hadn’t released yet but I was still busy and shooting for it. I didn’t have time to make my own food and I really needed a tiffin service. So when I saw Shonali advertise for her micro-biotic tiffin service, I contacted her and did a few trial rounds. I found it to be really fulfilling stuff. The stuff was really yummy and it gave me great energy. Most of all, it helped my skin problems because I’m prone to acne. I’ve been on it for about four years now.
Team MissMalini: But you have lovely skin. Surely you have an extensive beauty regime to maintain it?
JF: When it comes things like your skin and hair, exercise is really important. You need to get your blood pumping, you need to get your heart rate up. I also do a lot of yoga which is also really good for your skin and hair.
Team MM: How would you describe your personal style?
JF: I really don’t know what it is. I like all kind of styles and I wouldn’t be able to choose if I liked goth more or if I like quirky more or if I liked classic more. But for me, I think it’s all about balancing and putting it all together in a way that represents who I am the best. It’s also about not trying too hard to impersonate or copy someone else’s style.
Being comfortable and being confident is very important.
