Even though Payal Khandwala‘s collection at Lakme Fashion Week was called A Perfect Fit, her silhouettes were deliciously relaxed and Zen-like, proving that even though the designs bordered on the slouchy side at times, they fit her models like a glove.
The petite designer drew inspiration from men’s wear and hence, we saw her pair white boyfriend shirts with saris, wide pleated palazzos and wrap-skirts.
Payal also played with her signature Samurai-style pants and being an artist, enjoyed playing with bright and vivid colours for this collection. Shades like deep blue, turquoise, magenta, orange, sun yellow, red and maroon set her ramp ablaze with colour and when the models lined up on the ramp at the end of the show, it looked like a beautiful rainbow.
Most of all, we loved her range of hand-woven sarees, that are a must have for the discerning woman’s wardrobe.
