In a market dominated by sequins, quirky prints and neon shades, it was refreshing to go back to basics. Anavila Sindu Misra‘s debut line, Anavila showcased hand-woven linen saris as the main fabric choice that used hand blocking, batik and jamdani weaves. Titled Secret Life of the Forest, she picked up different motifs that were used on the backs of the blouses or on the borders, such as dragonflies, reindeers and fauna. The models walked barefoot and the accessories of choice were headbands. Misra worked closely with weavers in Jharkhand to create these exquisite fabrics and weaves.
Now if that hasn’t sold you to go snap up a sari – I don’t know what will.
