The fifth day of Lakme Fashion Week saw Bollywood’s favourite costume designer, Neeta Lulla, present a collection that was far removed from the signature styles she is known for.
Presenting a diffusion line of colourful separates which ranged in silhouettes – from shifts, and kurtas with long slit sleeves to maxis, tube dresses, flared skirts and saris – Neeta had us sit up and take notice of this eclectic play of restrained glamour.
Best known for her heavy and bling bridal wear, Neeta steered clear of over embellishing her creations. Instead, the use of pretty mukaish emroidery added just that right amount of spark to her designs, without being over bearing.
In particular, we loved the vibrant colour palette of blue, green, orange and shocking pink – all of which had a marked tropical influence.
Of course, the icing on the cake was Bollywood hottie Priyanka Chopra, who was the celebrity show-stopper. She wore an off-white maxi dress with sexy slits up the side (to show off her toned legs), embellished with mukaish embroidery.
