Fashion’s New Darlings: Day 4 at #WIFW

It is only natural that by day four of Wills India Fashion Week, fashion fatigue will settle in. And with so many of the senior designers deciding not to show this season, it has meant the schedule has been a little weak. So while Saturday may not have fashion week’s best line up, two designers ensured that the day was not a complete write off. Aneeth Arora’s Pero, plays with textile in a very whimsical way. Her show attracts some real design lovers, be it Lekha Poddar, Rakesh Thakore, Rahul Mishra, and Raw Mango’s Sanjay Garg.
Closing the day were Pankaj and Nidhi, who were the chosen designers for the Fiama Di Wills show. This was another show that attracted the industry watchful eye – Namrata, Joshipura, Rohit Bal, Shivan and Narresh.

Pero’s path

This show had all the trends of the season – checks, stripes, wool, bandhani but Aneeth gave them her own styling. Her love of romance and peasant styling ensured that everything was endearing. Like everyone, her shapes were longer and leaner this season, and this gave Pero’s collection a real sense of refinement. Pairing her blouses with denims gave her collection a very everyday feel. Lace remained to be one of Aneeth’s favoutite trims and of course there were plenty of scarves. There is question that a Pero shawl or wrap is a must in every girl’s wardrobe.

Pankaj and Nidhi were obviously in the mood to play cards, and felt the need to travel to Spain to play this game. Bolero jackets, tuxedo bibs and capes ensured the collection had a very dress up feel as always there was attention to detail – brass buttons really give that feel of ceremony to this collection. Surface ornamentation which translates into prints is the duo’s forte. Heart, spade, diamond and club patterns on the collection gave character to their garments. The collection started in powder blue and worked its way to gold. Their cord work in gold could only be described as “Bonita”. A chic, well edited and clean collection that was all about evening wear- this was a collection to bet on!
