ANNND… we’re finally here! After a little pitstop at the Sydney Opera House and Taronga Zoo of course, this Desi Girl Traveler (and her boy wonder) have made it to Queensland, Australia! Woo-hoo 🙂

Today we checked into The Reef View Hotel on Hamilton Island with super friendly staff, fabulous rooms and a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. Oh and these friendly cockatoos stopped by our balcony to say hello 🙂 how cool is that?!

After some chill-time we were all set for a Whitsundays sunset kayaking adventure! Nowshad meanwhile, was still on Sydney time, so we got there a WHOLE hour early! I of course took this opportunity to pose on the sunny marina…

Got friendly with a local… (which made Nowsh a little jealous as you can see!)

And devoured my holiday chocolate fix! 🙂

But soon we were on our kayak way, on a clear sunny day! (Ready to burn some chocolate cake calories!)

Ok confession ladies, my arms hurt. But I made it. So this essentially means that if the spirit is willing (even if the flesh is weak!) you can probably do this with a pretty basic level of fitness! Also the sunset was quite spectacular.

Our kayaking instructor Alice was super sweet, friendly and full of trivia! She gave us a quick, clear kayaking 101 and pointed out all the reindeer coral, turtles and flying fish along the way!

The best bit of course was her sunset surprise, when she whipped out three bottles of bubbly and plastic champagne flutes for us to enjoy right on the water! How cool is that?!

Sunset Sea Kayak Adventure Paddle

For a tranquil close-to-nature experience on the water, join a sea-kayaking Whitsundays tour over coral reefs. The guided tour takes you to nearby islands, while you see brilliant jets of colour as schools of tropical fish dart beneath you and passing turtles scull through the clear water!

So remember to pack a camera (they’ll give you a dry bag to keep it in) and pull it out just in time for sunset bubbly, like so! 🙂

Foodies Ahoy: Obviously I’m gonna leave the official lunch and dinner debrief to foodie extraordinaire Nowshad Rizwanullah – who will be eating his way through Queensland all week – but suffice to say Coca Chu you have my happy heart for impressing the papaya salad snob!
