It’s evident that most of us live a huge chunk of our lives online, and while there are a number of perks to having an online identity – we’re living examples of that! – there are a whole host of downsides as well. MTV’s Webbed, a drama series showcasing the lives of victims of cyber abuse and crime, is back with a second season! MTV Webbed 2 will feature popular television actress Kritika Kamra – of Kuch Toh Log Kahenge fame – as the host. The second season kicks off just a few days from now, on April 4th at 7pm on MTV. Will you be tuning in?

The makers describe the show as something, “for anyone and everyone who logs in on the web to meet old friends, make new friends, surf for information, download videos or even share a joke.” Each episode captures a real life story of cyber abuse, with the hopes of giving youngsters the information they need to protect themselves from any harm in the online world.

It’s all for a good cause, too – MTV ACT, which is MTV’s pro-social campaign, has tied up with Cyber Crime Awareness Society (CCAS) to drive cyber security awareness. They will be hosting workshops for Cyber Safety Awareness in colleges across the country, which will be interactive sessions with students to encourage them to exercise caution while using the internet.

Kritika Kamra says:

“I was exultant when MTV approached me to host Webbed 2. I’ve seen the first season and found it to be a fantastic eye opener for the ever connected youth. The internet is a vast and unknown territory and while we think we are engaging in harmless activities while surfing the net, we don’t realize how vulnerable we can be. Through MTV Webbed 2, my aim is to help the youth make informed choices so that they understand how their actions could sometimes lead to disastrous consequences. The internet is a beautiful place if used for the right reasons – that is accessing information that could enrich you in some way, but not everyone out there is noble and it’s up to us to keep ourselves safe.”
