#BandraRoad Under Military Rule!

#BandraRoad loves the Military Rule

On BandraRoad, military styled influences will always get a ‘hell yeah’! From camouflage to khaki and combat boots, there surely is something aesthetically cool about elements from authoritative uniforms. So take a piece off the military uniforms – or mix in a few more – to build a cool look that is all YOU! Here are a few street style looks that are very military chic. Read on and take notes!

Military styled jackets

#BandraRoad spots Divyanka Bedi’s army style

An army general style swallowtail jacket worn with a white shirt, sexy black shorts and a pair of bad ass bright mustard toned combat boots, formed MissMalini‘s Divyanka Bedi‘s look. She added a personal touch to her outfit with a vintage pin.

Tip: Khaki, white and black, are a great combination of tones for separates. Plus, they leave you room to add a jolt of colour like Divyanka did with the bright mustard boots!

Pins

#BandraRoad loves vintage pins

You don’t have to be all rugged and rough when it comes to military themed style. We saw Nathaniel Weller Rynjah, of N&S GAIA by Sidharth Sinha, work an army-chic look with a cool pin on his beige blazer and mustard socks with brown leather lace-ups!

Tip: Keep a close eye on your parents’ and grandparents’ jewellery kits and boxes. You know all the vintage treasures hide in there and can be all yours!

Army cut offs from the flea market

For #BandraRoad, Gautam Kalra shows off his favourite military styled jacket from a flea market in Goa!

Gautam Kalra, stylist extraordinaire, wore his favourite flea market buy to Lakme Fashion Week and at WIFW (just for BandraRoad!). One jacket worn in two different ways. Which one do we like more? Nah! We’ll take them both!

Tip: Got a statement jacket? Find fun ways to change its look by playing with different separates like Gautam did!

A desi twist on army style

#BandraRoad spots Nupur Kanoi’s desi army avatar

Nupur Kanoi is all heart and packs in quiet a punch in her light and dark, military green kurta and trousers combo. What really seals the deal for us is her nuts, beads and stone statement neck-piece. It adds a strong edge to her army look along with the gold tinted aviators!

Tip: Nupur played it chic with a pair of nude heels, but you can choose to work your look with a pair of boots, oxford or the good old-school sneakers!

Off duty Cadet

#BandraRoad spot Daniels off-duty cadet style

I am a fan of Daniel Franklin‘s play on combat dressing. An olive green t-shirt with beige cadet shorts and an acid washed denim shirt worn as a jacket; that was his look. But what really did it for me were the details. He accessorised the look with a leather envelope and a pair of quirky army style socks peeking out.

Tip: Like Daniel, feel free to mix ideas like denims & cargos, lace & leather, and spikes & studs. On the street, there is always a way to get it right! Freedom of expression is what drives us on BandraRoad.

Military style built off the streets

#BandraRoad spots Chandni Sareen’s street style military edge

We met stylist Chandni Sareen and immediately got talking about her look. Her style for the day was a mixture of high-street, high-end and a cool military themed shirt that she bought off the streets of Lajpat Nagar in Delhi.

Tip: Don’t be afraid to mix elements. Like Sareen, you can take one high-end piece and team it with a high street one. You then add some character to the look with goodies discovered from the streets and a few vintage, one-off pieces, here and there!

See guys, army street style is not just all about camouflage and following rigid rules in dressing. You must have fun with it by adding your own spin to things. All you need is some khaki, a little bit of olive green and something in brown leather to form the palate (and a fun imagination) for a cool military strong look. So what is your favourite military style? Do share it with us on #BandraRoad!
