Excerpts:

Team MM (Team MM): So how has motherhood changed you as a person?

Shilpa Shetty Kundra (SSK): It has changed everything but in a good way. The most wonderful thing about motherhood is that no matter how time consuming or sleep depriving it may be, it is always gratifying when you see your child smile back at you. I wouldn’t want it any other way!

Team MM: Out of all the wonderful memories, what is the most unforgettable moment you have spent with Viaan?

SSK: Every moment, every day is a new experience! But the moment that I cannot forget is, when I gave birth to him and he was put on my chest. I just can’t describe that emotion.

Team MM: What’s your favourite part of the daily routine with your little one?

SSK: When we wake up together, he puts his hands on my chest and asks me to open the curtains in his baby voice. Viaan likes things that are beautiful and if he sees a beautifully embroidered dress, he says ”Mumma, Wow!” It’s quite scary sometimes actually! But to see a child actually appreciate, to see him stand in front of a God, stand and pray, all these moments are beautiful.

Team MM: So tell us that one lesson that you learnt from your mother and you want to teach Viaan?

SSK: You know, my mother was quite a pain! She made us learn all the gayatri mantras, raahu and ketu, everything, and I’m trying to teach Viaan the gayatri mantra. But most importantly, she taught me to respect people, not just elders. I want him to learn those values.

Team MM: What according to you are the biggest challenges faced by a working mother?

SSK: Time. Thankfully, I have the luxury of time and I can move things around according to my son’s convenience. But there are still times where you have deadlines and you still want to be there for your child. I am quite lazy as a professional, so I am a full time mother and a part time professional (laughs).
