While last week I told you all about fun ways to have coffee in the summer, this Sunday has been kept aside for one very important aspect of our lives – skin care. We are well aware of all the usual natural products that one can use for a better and clear skin, but there are still a few more that not many are aware of.
If your skin is anything like mine, you will understand when I say that 90% of products or even skin care remedies don’t work. You say cinnamon and honey scrub for oily and acne-prone skin? No, that makes my skin uneven. So yes, besides normal, oily, dry and combination skin this is somewhere the fifth skin type which can be called the ‘nothing suits’ skin.
So here is a mix of 5 face masks and face scrubs that will help you make your stubborn skin clearer and better.
1. Green Tea Scrub.
This one is my favourite! None of the sugar and oatmeal scrubs did for me what this one does. It lightens marks and makes your skin feel soft and clean. All you got to do is mix the content of one green tea bag with about 2 tbsp honey and about 1 tea spoon of lemon. Mix it well and scrub lightly, trying to avoid the pimples (as the lemon can sting) for about 3 mins and wash off with lukewarm water. The lemon helps you lighten scars and marks while honey will work on softening the skin.
2. Aspirin-Honey-Lemon Mask.
Skin problems scream Aspirin, but sometimes the poor guy cannot deal with it alone. You can use Disprin too. Crush 2 Disprin tablets, add a drop of lemon juice and one generous spoon of honey. Mix well and apply as a mask or just on the problem areas, whatever suits you. Wash off 15 minutes later. You may not notice the difference immediately but when you wake up the next day, you will be surprised!
3. Oatmeal scrub.
Again another commonly known skin doctor, but here’s a different and more effective way to use it. Oatmeal and honey is very messy, so you should grind the oatmeal and make it powder-ish. 2-3 tbsp of finely grounded oatmeal, 2 tbsp honey, 1 tablet crushed aspirin and there, you got yourself a treat!
4. Summer Facial Mask.
Just because I call it summer doesn’t mean you can use it only in the summer. This mask just gives me a summer feel! So this needs crushed mint leaves, cucumber juice and fuller’s earth (multani mitti). Ideally, you could use curd too but oily skin and combination skin can break out if curd is applied. Now mix them and make a little thick mask by keeping the fuller’s earth quantity a little more than cucumber juice. Apply and wash it off after 15-20 mins. It’s therapy!
5. Tomato-Honey mask.
Tomato clears skin and the effect lasts long, even the marks aren’t visible. Grate tomato as per your requirement and add 1 tbsp of honey to it. Apply and wash off with lukewarm water after 15 mins. Tip: Apply this mask at night. The glow next morning is worth the mess!
So now you have 5 new ways to pamper your skin on weekends! But what about the week days? Let’s face it, we do need our cosmetics even after all this pampering. So here are 5 must-haves that will not let you down and finally, you will be able to have stuff that suits you!
1. Garnier BB Cream.
BB creams are to be used like a moisturizer and while I tried Maybelline BB Cream as well, this one seems to work best for oily skin. It blends perfectly and the most important thing, it doesn’t cause breakouts. The only thing with this BB Cream is that it doesn’t cover dark blemishes or acne marks so you need a concealer. But I will tell you which concealer works best too so yay! :)
2. Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer.
This concealer will do what the Garnier BB Cream leaves behind. It’s a roller pen with a brush so just brush it over your dark spots or blemishes and then use your compact. This concealer is illuminating and it covers spots in the most natural way.
3. Maybelline Dream Matte Powder.
This is indeed dreamy. The powder is extremely finely milled and pressed together. When you use the Garnier BB cream and follow it with the Maybelline concealer, this compact completes your look and makes your skin look flawless yet not too loaded with make-up.
4. Lotus Herbals Tea Tree & Cinnamon Anti-Acne Oil Control Face Wash.
This face wash cheers you up! It is a clear gel-like composition which really helps to cool inflammation and gives you a fresh and minty feel with a little tinge of cinnamon. This one is the perfect face wash!
5. Johnson’s Baby Powder.
Seriously, just carry one of these always! It is the ideal way to feel fresh any time and anywhere. I know I always have mine handy!
Will you try these? Let me know how you find them!
