Maleficent for MAC

Everyone loves a good villain. Even though you don’t want them to win in the end – a great story wouldn’t be so great without that mesmerisingly powerful villain. Maleficent is exactly that. As the much-awaited Angelina Jolie starrer hit theatres yesterday, so did another eagerly anticipated collaboration. Maleficent collaborated with M.A.C cosmetics to recreate the make-up of Disney’s most iconic villain. A limited edition collection filled with deep shades for the eyes, face, lips and nails – all so sinfully gorgeous.

MissMalini got a few exclusive deets about the making-of the character by the special effects artist for the movie, Rick Baker. You’ve all seen Angelina’s glorious exaggerated cheekbones in the movie; Rick tells us that it was Angie’s idea to use prosthetics around the shape of her face for the movie. He says the horns itself took about two months to create – this after trying six different sculptures to get it right. And no, they didn’t just make one pair, about fifty pairs were made and used through the entire movie. They had to be attached with magnets to her head just so they’d sit correctly.
Here’s a closer look at all the products:
