Football fan or not, we have a treat for you. As MissMalini’s stylist and co-creator of BandraRoad, I love a style challenge and this one was a treat. MissMalini asked me to form two looks for #FIFA 2014 on #MMFridays. The catch was to keep the looks football friendly but stylish enough for everyone. And here’s what we came up with!
I stuck to the football theme but interpreted it in ways that are easy and so much fun!
1. Bring in the jersey
I think the football jersey has a lot of potential with respect to style. Most importantly, it’s high on utility. In the look below, I dressed it up in a cool and casual way. I paired it with a pair of ¾ jersey knit tracks. It feels pretty sporty and criminally comfortable, if I may say so myself. To add that extra style boost, I threw on a white shirt with rolled up sleeves.
See! A simple jersey, the accessible pair of tracks, a staple crisp white shirt and finish it with a pair of cool shoes!
2. When Sports Luxe meets Street
How freaking cool is this The Farm Company for Adidas gear? Team MissMalini’s Anushka rocked them with a t-shirt she bought from a street shop. BandraRoad loves street shoppers! Of course, keeping the print heavy look of the outfit in mind, we went with the classic white sneakers. #Swag!
3. Team Colour block
Here’s how you twist your support for a team into a cool look. Colour block it! My bright blue shorts are from a little store in Sona Market on Hill Road, Adidas Originals by Jeremy Scott, Bandra (P.S. they have a ton of cool shorts and one in an insane hot pink tone). I balanced the shorts with a basic plain white tee but added the color block element with a red bandana tied to a sleeve. The look was finished with an utlra cool pair of sunglasses.
4. Room for colour
This look is light and cool for summer. A loose white tee and pair of denim shorts and a loose sleeveless shirt (from the street) worn as a jacket. Where is the football element? Pick your team and use their colour in a bandana and tie it as a hip band on your head. #HipstersRule!
