As if Housefull and Housefull 2 weren’t enough, we’re now going to be exposed to a third film in the franchise. The film has now been officially announced, with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Abhishek Bachchan starring in the film – but surprisingly enough, director Sajid Khan has not been roped in, even though he directed the previous two films. Instead, producer Sajid Nadiadwala has gone ahead and pulled in duo Sajid-Farhad to helm this project. (Yes, too many Sajids all around.)
Sajid-Farhad were the writers of Housefull 2, and have even penned scripts for several other comedy films like Golmaal, Ready, Bol Bachchan and Chennai Express. However, they are only now making their directorial debut with Akshay’s It’s Entertainment, which means that Housefull 3 will be their second film as directors. The film is set to go on floors by the end of this year; however, no leading ladies have been confirmed as of yet.
The question, of course, is why Nadiadwala has decided to go with the duo instead of Sajid Khan to direct this film. Word doing the rounds earlier suggested that Akshay got him kicked out, since he was angry with Sajid Khan for making comments about having revived his career. Then, there were other reports that suggested his remuneration was the problem. We’ll leave you to guess – any thoughts?
