Shoojit Sircar‘s upcoming film, Piku, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan is scheduled to hit the big screen on April 30th of next year, meaning that they will begin shooting some time in August. However, it seems that a few changes were made to the script before it was finalised, only because Deepika Padukone asked that she be given a little more importance.
From what I hear, the actress chose to do the film only after she was told she would be playing the title role. Initially, the script had several tracks dedicated to the men… but when Dippy expressed her reservation that she would be reduced to the backdrop, the director promptly changed a few parts in the storyline to accommodate her wish. It seems like DPad’s role was made a bit meatier, and only then did the actress confirm that she would be a part of the project. Given her recent successes, Deepika has suddenly become every director’s favourite, and it’s evident that many people will be willing to go to great lengths to grant her what she wants – if it means she will sign on their film. Good going, Deepika!
