Earlier this year, Marc Jacobs set Instagram & Twitter abuzz as he announced that he would cast the models for his next campaign through social media. Fashion folk went into a tizzy as the hashtag #CastMeMarc was flung around for every selfie taken and uploaded on the social media platforms. The rules were simple – all you had to do, to feature in one of the Marc by Marc Jacobs advertisement campaign was take a photo of yourself and upload it with the hashtag #CastMeMarc and thats it! More than 70,000 people participated; the winners are in, and this is what they look like in the Fall Winter 2014 campaign.
Another brand that had done this to cast their campaign models was Diesel for their ‘Reboot’ campaign. Karl Lagerfeld did something similar called ‘Walk For Karl‘. I think it’s a brilliant idea, get social with your ads, it makes the buyers happy and it gets the brand the recognition it wants through their seasonal campaigns.
