Every year, the fashion industry heads over to Paris for WHO’S NEXT, a trade show that takes care of everything design and fashion related be it women’s clothing, urban and men’s fashion, shoes, leather goods, jewellery and accessories. This year, ten designers from India will take part and by January 2015, be narrowed down to two designers who will be rewarded with another season of showcasing their work at WHO’S NEXT 2015, a full fledged business plan worth €20,000 as well as extended support from the program partners.
Indian designers showcasing in the ready-to-wear section include Pankaj & Nidhi, ILK, Kavita Bhartia, Hemant & Nandita, Tanvi Kedia, Pallavi Mohan and others. At MissMalini, we’re taking you behind the scenes and giving you a peek at ILK’s creations for WHO’S NEXT that starts today up to the 7th of July.
Lots of sheer patterns, gauze, net and cottons make up ILK’s honeycomb inspired collection. Taking cue from the geometry of a honeycomb, the motifs have been derived from a structure of a beehive.
The ILK woman is a ‘busy-bee’ and her powerful mind inspires the utilitarian aesthetic of the silhouette.
We can’t wait to see more from their buzzing collection and more from a host of other designers showcasing at the four day exhibit. Watch this space for more from WHO’S NEXT, coming to you straight from Paris.
