So you work in the fashion industry and your average day involves a whole lot of make-up, dressing up and plenty of high heels. Not to mention the constant fashion talk including designer names and a bunch of other fashion technicalities the layman would not be able to begin comprehending.  This layman sometimes is your boyfriend. And when this boyfriend continues to say things like, “Babe, do you HAVE to wear that spiky bracelet? It’s like a dog collar!” you’re bound to snap and bite his head off. So here are 10 other such things a fashionista does not want to hear from her significant other.

1. Your Lipstick Is Blinding Me!

Another version of this could be, “I can’t kiss you, I don’t want your lipstick all over me!”. But here’s the deal, if the lipstick adds to the look, I’m not going to take it off only because you think it’s too bright.

2. How much did that cost?

The correct statement to make would be, “You look so good in that, why didn’t you buy it in all colours?” Guys, we work hard to earn money and the main reason behind it is, we don’t want to be questioned about how we spend it (especially if it’s on shoes).

3. It’s just fashion!

It’s not JUST fashion

Does the fact that fashion is a billion dollar industry mean nothing to you? Yes we know we’re not saving any lives (medically at least). Here, Miranda Priestly will explain it better.

4. Do these shoes go with this shirt?

I’ll admit it, it’s really cute when your man takes fashion tips from you. But it can get old really quickly! Everything from rolling up shirt sleeves, to picking a belt and matching their shoes – suddenly you’re their personal stylist.

5. Do we have to go out?

It’s funny how this question mostly makes an appearance when you have a fashion event to go to. We sit through all your boring outdoor conferences and trips, I think one night at a fashionable party wouldn’t kill you.

6. Can you make space for some of my things too?

Closet

This is the one and only thing you dread to hear when your boyfriend is coming to stay – closet space. It’s bad enough that your closet is filled to the brim, one more piece of clothing and it will just spill over so making space in your closet means moving somethings out and nobody likes that!

7. You Look so pretty without any makeup

Somehow, they only land up telling you this once you’re all dressed and ready to go out. The right time to say this would be when we’re already not wearing make-up and the right way to say it would be, “oh you look so pretty without any make up on also!”

8. ‘No Reaction”

This is the worst! When you walk out looking like you’ve never done before – all dolled up and glamorous (you’re imagining walking down the stairs in slow motion and everything). What do they do? 8 times out of 10 they don’t notice until you tell them you’ve done something different. Fail!

9. Why do you wear those shoes if you can’t walk in them?

Four words – No pain, no gain. We fashion girls live by it. Also what is the point of having a boyfriend if he can’t give you his arm and be your support for the night?

10. 4 suitcases for a 2 day trip?

Now listen, if we’re going to a wedding away from home or a set of parties far away, we need shoes to match our clothes, we need make-up (even if you don’t like it), we need all those clothes (duh!) and on top of all that, we need our accessories. Does that explain it or shall we delve into this further?

So which one of these drives you up the wall the most? Tell us in the comments below.
