Priyanka Chopra throws her audience a punch with the trailer of Mary Kom, which released earlier this week. From a stylish actress to an athletic sportswoman, Priyanka has absolutely transformed herself for this biopic based on the life of Mary Kom herself.
The scenes in the trailer are electrifying while the dialogues leave you with goose bumps up your spine – I get a feeling this movie is definitely one not to miss!

Here are 5 awesome things we learned about Priyanka Chopra and Mary Kom at the trailer launch for the film!
As soon as PeeCee arrived, she admitted that the film “was the hardest movie of her life”. Playing “a small town girl with big dreams in her eyes”, Priyanka further elaborated that Mary’s character exhausted her physically and emotionally. She said, “The hardest scene of the film was this scene of Mary as a mother and her conflict within”. Obviously, never having been a mother herself, “it was a very hard moment” for Priyanka.
Hats off to Priyanka for making SUCH a built body for this film! After shooting for 18 hours, PC would go to the gym and train for hours in order to look the part of a boxer. In fact, the reason why she wore long sleeves in Ram Chahe Leela was because her arms were too sculpted for the feminine item song. Priyanka gave a shout-out to her trainer, Prashant, and explained the difficulty of gaining muscle as a woman.
In the film, Mary rebels against her father in order to pursue her dreams of becoming a professional boxer. When asked whether she’s ever rebelled against her family, Priyanka laughingly responded, “I am a rebel without cause. I like to rebel for everything”. Mamma Madhu Chopra was in the audience, so I wonder what she had to say! ;)
Co-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali revealed, “Maine script bhi nahi padha tha” when he decided to produce Mary Kom. First time director, Omung Kumar told Sanjay his vision for the film by the lift of the office, and Sanjay immediately responded that he’s going to produce it!
Ajit Andhare, COO of Viacom 18 and co-producer of the movie, openly stated that Mary Kom will be a “100 crore film with a woman in a lead!” To which Priyanka responded, “Aise statement mat banao!” Well, I guess we will have to wait and see how this biopic about dedication, resilience, strength and balance fares at the box office.
