Come every January, gyms all over the country get busy for about three weeks as people throng to get started on their often short lived New Year’s resolutions. Here are five resolutions to start anytime in the year and get a step (or two) closer to those oh-so-fit and toned bodies we majorly drool over on the big screen!

Numero Uno:

Drink 10 glasses of water everyday. Not only is this stuff the cheapest potion for awesome looking skin but it does the body (which is made of ~65% water) just as much good by boosting your metabolism and acting as a natural appetite suppressant all at the same time!

Numero Dos:

Go virgin at that Happy Hour. So you’re out after work and the drinks are flowing. Alcohol calories add up fast! That too in the evening, the worst time in the day to pile on those calories. Skip that fruity cocktail which is loaded with calories and ask the bartender to blend up a spritzer that’s half natural fruit juice (avoid the stuff with added sugars!) and half club soda. Surprisingly these spritzers have a kick of their own all the while seriously cutting down on the calories. If that just isn’t your thing try a gin tonic or a vodka soda to save on calories and still get your buzz on!

Numero Tres:

Eat more smaller meals! Yup eat more times in a day (not so bad huh?) just east smaller portions. Split up your routine from three big meals in a day and switch to eating five or six smaller meals throughout the day. This will keep you full throughout the day and you won’t have that urge to stuff your face like there’s no tomorrow at each meal.

Numero Cuatro:

It’s all about timing – while a lot of us are used to a routine where dinner’s our biggest meal in the day it’s actually a fail of an idea! Countless celebs credit eating a light (read low calorie, low carb-skip on that rice or that extra paratha) dinner to helping them maintain their finely toned bodies. As your day progresses make sure each of those small meals is lighter – particularly on the carb content!

Numero Cinco:

Stating the obvious – exercise! In whatever way you heart desires – whether it’s a 30 minute walk in the park five days a week or taking the 5 flight of stairs at work [yes – 5 flights up – not only down!] everyday or that daily swim at the start of your day. No amount of watching your diet will do much good to get that toned body without that daily workout!
