Tonight marks the opening of Lakmé Fashion Week and designers Amit Aggarwal and Masaba are all geared up to open the show. A week before the madness begins, designers round up their collection, bring together the models, the stylist and everyone else involved in putting the whole show together and carry out a full fledged run through. From getting all the fittings correct, to making sure all the accessories are perfectly matched and of course deciding who will be wearing what – all of it happens within a few hours and this time, we got to take a peek at Amit Aggarwal’s fittings a few days before his opening show. Here’s what we saw…
Aggarwal’s latest collection is a very structured one. Strong silhouettes frame majority of the designs. This structure, mixed with deep shades like black, emerald and deep blue gives the entire collection a dark, romantic air.
His designs make use of washed matt silks, crepe de chine and duchess satin which are spun together to give birth to all the wearable whimsical magic.
A few androgynous elements make an appearance in a very subtle way while the entire collection takes inspiration from tribal weaving techniques, striped tattoos and structured jewellery.
While the fittings alone left us floored, we can’t wait to see all the greatness unfold on the runway tonight – and one thing we’re sure of, the finale piece will leave you absolutely stunned.
