It looks like the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is really taking off in Bollywood, too! For those who don’t know, this new viral activity involves dumping a bucket of ice-cold water on your head to raise awareness for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s disease). Participants who do this can then nominate another person, who has to do it themselves or “forfeit” by making a donation to the ALS Association. It’s been big internationally for a few days now, but now it’s clear that it’s catching on here too: many Indian – including Bollywood – celebrities have also been taking the challenge (such as Riteish Deshmukh!).
