When Sonam Kapoor walks in to a room, she fills it with her unassuming and refreshing personality. Looking stunning as always, Sonam, who is gearing up for the release of her much awaited Khoobsurat with Fawad Khan, had a candid tete-a-tete with us about all things Khoobsurat.
Here are excerpts from our chat :
Team MissMalini (Team MM) : How khoosburat has the journey of this film been so far?
Sonam Kapoor : I have loved every minute of it! From the beginning, to post production to even now, the promotions! It is all such an adrenalin rush because we’ve worked so hard for the film and are so kicked about it. I can’t wait to share it with the world.
Team MM : This question is very important, Sonam. How cute is Fawad Khan! Where did you find him?
SK : (laughs) We looked hard enough to find you guys the perfect Prince Charming! And he is! Rhea (Kapoor) thinks he looks like Tom Cruise and I agree.
Team MM : What is your rapport with Fawad? How do you like him?
SK : Fawad is very comfortable to be around. When I’m with him, I only end up talking for most parts. He has such strong work ethic, it’s commendable. Two qualities that I absolutely adore about him is that one, he is open minded about everything and is always up for a challenge; two, he loves his wife the most. It’s beautiful to just watch!
Team MM : Were you nervous about stepping into the legendary Rekha’s shoes as your Khoobsurat is a remake of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Khoobsurat?
SK : Oh yes! The pressure was on! We all loved her in the film and hers are some seriously big shoes to fill. Having said that, I would like to clarify that our Khoobsurat takes inspiration from the old one but it is in no way a remake. We can call it a tribute, at best
Team MM : Okay. So You’re almost like a benchmark for fashion atleast in the industry. Do you always find yourself under pressure for looking your best?
SK : First of all I would really like everyone to know, especially the girls, that there’s an entire team that works on me making sure I look the way I do. Also, I am genetically blessed so I can take no credit for that. Other than that, I think there’s a difference between fashion and style. And what makes people associate me with fashion is because I’ve always had a natural sense of style. I’ve grown up being interested in lots of fabrics and cuts… so yes, there may be pressure every now and then, but style comes naturally to me, so not as much.
Team MM : What, according to you, makes a person absolutely Khoobsurat?
SK : Self confidence! A lot has been said about me especially, that I am arrogant or I am not humble, but for me I think I have a very strong sense of self and self respect. I really believe it comes from within. If you feel khoobsurat, you are khoobsurat! It shows!
