BandraRoad just isn’t about shopping on streets. We see the idea of ‘The Street’ as something bigger than just the literal meaning. As style addicts, who are influenced by the street, our love for all things street can come from any where and that’s the whole fun of it. At Lakme Fashion Week, we spotted a few designers who peppered their collections with a strong street flavour, and we’ve picked our 5 favorites to show you.

Anuj Bhutani

It’s always exciting to see a menswear show, especially because the men really need a few more options to experiment. This look by Anuj Bhutani starts the list because of its versatility. We love the trench coat and can think of a million different ways to work it!

Style Tip: Style the trench and trouser with a cool white tee with a bad ass graphic and a pair of white high-top sneakers.

2. Lovebirds

We took a closer look at the Lovebirds collection. The designers of the label, Amrita Khanna and Gursi Singh, started out as vintage clothing merchants and turned into designers. Looking at their clothes and the Japanese street style influence is pretty strong. Our favourite part of the look is that pleated skirt; I loved the entire collection so this was a hard one to pick.

BR Style Tip: Play the volume of their look to the fullest with a bulky woolen shawl in the winter. And because the colour tones are muted, throw in a pair  printed shoes or socks for that pop of drama. We’d love a stark red canvas belt around the waist.

Huemn

These guys are insane with their balance of street elements and high fashion executions. They’ve taken the shirt, t-shirt, sneakers and oversized jackets from the street and presented it in a refined upscale way. And the best part? The love for the raw and edgy is still pretty stark through the collection and the label itself. The printed shirt in the picture is to die for!

Style Tip: While we totally love the way this look is styled, we’d maybe replace the black trousers with a pair of khaki plaid shorts. It could be fun to have something to compliment those gold zippers on the jacket.

4. ILK

We picked this look by ILK for our #BRWishList for its simplicity. We can think of a few more ways to play with its comfy silhouette. On BandraRoad, we love clothes that let you add your own personality to them. Besides, shirt dresses = #Win!

BR Style Tip: Find those sheer leggings with motives to compliment the look with a pair of sneakers.

5. The Quirkbox

The vibe of the clothes from The Quirkbox are brilliantly strong with their graffiti-like use of colour and fun prints. And for that exact reason, we picked this look from their show. Our eyes are on that colour blocked jacket for sure!

BR Style Tip: We’d suggest to let the jacket do all the talking. So ideally, we’d team it with a basic white tee and a pair of grey textured pants or a pleated skirt.
