Bollywood is famous world over and should be! The Indian film industry is the largest film industry in the world after all with Bollywood lovers residing in various parts of the world. One country which is home to a TON of these lovers is the United States of America. With so many Bollywood events (read: IIFA Awards, world tours, and so on) taking place and numerous movies being shot in the country, it is not surprising that the Ishanya Dance Company has started a petition to recognise October 11 as the National Bollywood Day. The first of its kind!

The Indian film industry churns out the most number of films each year, with a lot of them releasing in America, leading to a positive impact on the American economy. Major names in the Hollywood film industry, such as DreamWorks, Walt Disney, and Warner Bros are now investing in Indian movies. Remember Kal Ho Na Ho, Dhoom 3 etc, which were shot in the States? The IIFA Awards did just take place in Tampa Bay not too long ago. If the crowd that it drew wasn’t an indication of how popular Bollywood is in the country than I don’t know what is.

There are other dance schools, like Ishanya Dance Company, that run Bollywood dance classes throughout the country and generate revenue in the various states. The company is working really hard to get this petition across to the US Congress and needs all the support it can get. If you wish to lend them some support, you can do so by signing the petition here and don’t forget to visiti their pages on Facebook and Twitter too.

If you are a Bollywood lover, whether in the USA or not, you should support this cause! Simply because…. Bollywood is awesome, isn’t it? Also, how cool would it be to have a National Bollywood Day in the States? Go, spread some love. 🙂
