Making India proud consistently, the current Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of PepsiCo, Indra Nooyi, has been ranked at 13 in the list of Forbes World’s 100 Most Powerful Women, 2014. Next step, world domination!
3) Sushmita Sen
Sushmita Sen showed girls all over the world that we don’t always need a partner to raise kids. Single handedly, Sushmita has raised two beautiful girls while balancing her career effortlessly. If America has the flawless Beyonce, we have a flawless Sushmita.
4) Shabana Azmi
This lady needs no introduction! Regarded as one of India’s finest actresses, Shabana Azmi’s performances in films in a variety of genres have earned her praise and awards. Not to be confined to the glamour of Bollywood, Shabana became a social and women’s rights activist, a Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA), and a member of the Rajya Sabha. This desi girl dons many feathers in her hat.

The fashion features director of Vogue India goes by the Twitter handle @behavebandana, and that itself makes her the coolest person ever! Okay seriously, Bandana was awarded Fashion Journalist of the Year at the Fashion Awards in Mumbai back in 2006. She then scripted and hosted 50 episodes of Simply Style, the first comprehensive show on fashion and lifestyle on primetime television in India, and wrote The Little Book of Italy which was translated into Hindi as well as Marathi. The only thing left is ruling the world, isn’t it?

8) Irom Sharmila
Civil rights activist, political activist, and poet, Irom Sharmila began an ongoing hunger strike in protest against the “Malom Massacre” on 2 November 2000. Having refused food and water for more than 500 weeks, Irom has been called “the world’s longest hunger striker”, and on International Women’s Day, 2014 she was voted the top woman icon of India by MSN Poll. We need more of such figures.
