Well, guess what we just heard! A little birdie just called to let us know that Deepika Padukone and Varun Dhawan, two of the hottest actors today, will be seen paired up on-screen for the first time. But you know what the kicker really is? They aren’t coming together for just any film – they’ll be paired together for the Hindi adaptation of The Fault in Our Stars! Yup, it’s confirmed: the duo has been signed on, and it’s kind of blowing our minds a little because we didn’t expect them to be paired together in a film any time soon, much less for a film like this. But damn, this is going to be something else!

The Fault in Our Stars is being made in Hindi by Fox Star Studios and Maddock Films, and will be directed by Homi Adajania. This will be the third time Homi and Deepika join hands, as they’ve already given us Cocktail and Finding Fanny, two films that have been well-received by the audiences. No doubt, it’ll be Homi’s hat-trick with his favourite heroine, and we’re looking forward to seeing how that works out – Hazel can’t be an easy character to play at all, but then again, Deepika has proven herself repeatedly. As for Varun, he makes a good choice for Gus – a little cocky, a lot pretentious. This, too, I could see.

What I’m most interested in seeing, though, is how Homi adapts these characters. Hazel and Gus are both very close to my heart (I’m a big fan of the book by John Green) and I love how weird, eccentric, distinctive and yet still completely relatable they both are. Homi seems to know how to toe the line between mainstream and offbeat, so I’m optimistic about him getting it right.

From what we hear, they begin work on this film in March of next year. Stay tuned for more – we’ll be updating you as soon as we know more about this much-awaited project! Now, over to you: how do you feel about this? Can you see Varun Dhawan and Deepika Padukone together? Do you think Homi Adajania will adapt this book/film well? Tell us in the comments below…
