Khoobsurat

The weekend gone by wasn’t really productive for Bollywood… what with quite a few films releasing but none really covering the distance. Chaarfutiya Chhokare and Meinu Ek Ladki Chaahiye were disasters from the very first show and came out with negligible collections. Balwinder Singh… Famous Ho Gaya was just marginally better, but that too wasn’t saying much as the film was not even reviewed by most. As for Dear v/s Bear and Beyond – The Third Kind, there wasn’t even sign of any release, leave aside data available for collections.

The only notable releases of the week, Desi Kattey and 3 AM, couldn’t shake up the box office either. Since Desi Kattey had the widest release of them all due to its single screen focused content, the collections were better at around 2 crore in the weekend. However, it needs much more as some decent moolah has been spent on its making.

Horror flick 3 AM did get some decent reviews going for it, but there was no opening of any kind. As a result of which it just about managed to cross the 1 crore mark.

No wonder, it was Khoobsurat that scored the highest as it managed to fetch a weekend of around 5 crore. In total, it would now go on to step in the 27-28 crore bracket, something that we had predicted in last week. As for Yash Raj’s Daawat-e-Ishq, it too had better collections than the new releases, but still remained on the lower side. While the exact numbers are still awaited, they are lesser than that of Khoobsurat. The film would surely be ending its run when Bang Bang and Haider arrive at the box-office.

All in all, yet another week that has been dominated by Sonam Kapoor even in the wake of all the competition.
